Please note: due to it's treatment, smoked cork features a distinctive smoky scent when it is first manufactured, which dissipates over time.

*Smoked or dark cork is a new type of eco-friendly and sustainable material, made from the bark of the top branches of the cork oak tree which were normally discarded. The bark is steamed at high-pressure, (using its own dust particles as fuel) which causes it to expand and bind together with it's natural resins. This treatment gives it a stunning texture as well as a unique look and feel. Every part of this process is 100% natural, self-sustainable and produces no waste. The tree it is not damaged in any way, the bark grows back again and while it does so, it absorbs an incredible amount of carbon dioxide from the atmosphere. How great is that?
